This week Dean Russell, epifny consulting and Win That Pitch founder, has been busy judging the 38th annual BASE Awards. Dean has been a judge for over ten years and was part of a prestigious number of judges from across the entertainment, retail and creative industry.
This year the BASE Awards saw its broadest ever range of entries with 42 sector-spanning organisations all celebrating the best of the home entertainment industry which includes DVD & Blu-Ray through to streaming services such as Netflix.
During the morning session, Dean judged pitches by nominees for the prestigious Outstanding Innovation Award* along with leaders from across the entertainment and retail industry. Dean was later joined by Radio DJ Edith Bowman, and representatives from The Metro newspaper and MTV to judge several creative award categories.
Overall the judging involved over 30 independent and expert adjudicators. All of this year’s winners will be announced at the awards ceremony taking place at Tobacco Dock on Thursday 7th June.
Dean Russell added "I love being part of the BASE Awards, I believe this is my tenth year judging and each year just gets better and more diverse. Getting to see at the coalface how the entertainment industry, retail and marketers are writing new rules is truly exciting.
It's also a great experience to see how the big brands bring their A-game to pitching for the awards too - without fail there is always something groundbreaking and inspiring about their approach which makes it one of the best awards ceremonies to be a judge on.".
