Have you ever looked at the likes of Elon Musk and wondered what exactly he does all day that makes him so successful? What is it that the rich and famous do differently to be so successful? What sets them apart and makes them more productive? It isn't a magic pill and it isn't a special vitamin filled, celeb fad diet juice. Having worked with many successful leaders, the reality when it comes to success, is it all comes down to attitude, visualisation and routine.
Based on our experience working with successful leaders, including millionaires and billionaires at the top of their game, we have put together a list of the top six tips that will change your daily routine to be just as productive as even the brightest brains of society!
1. According to CNBC.com rich, successful people do at least fifteen minutes of exercise every day. Although it is simple in premise it is something that not all of us do. A successful person can attribute at least a little of the positive energy they exude to having exercised that day, and it was a trait that all of those surveyed admitted to having. Motivational energy is a little like finance: you have to speculate to accumulate.
2. DevelopGoodHabits.Com gives great advice with the name alone. They share their learnings that successful people attribute their success to their ability to focus. Each of their interviewees daily routines are focused towards one aspect: productivity. If you can get this into your head and follow your own pattern of getting up early and working hard, it will eventually become a routine, a habit. And once it is a habit it is ingrained and hard to change.
3. Make time for what is important. Just as the rich and famous make time in their day for productivity they carefully manage time spent on important matters such as family or taking time off. There is no harm in a holiday when you work five days a week, fifty-two weeks a year. The difference between the successful and the rest of us is that even then – their holiday time is packed full of interesting things to do and new experiences. As Ralph Waldo Emerson famously stated “The mind, once stretched by a new idea, never returns to its original dimensions.”
4. Squeeze the best out of every second. A successful person will wake up naturally early by habit – this includes on days off or weekends. Each minute can be spent working towards a goal, exercising, reading to expand their knowledge base or spending time with loved ones with no other goal than pleasure. Those who are the most successful never forget this all important detail – that their family is why they work so hard, and they will not miss their children growing simply to work harder.
5. They never stop learning. The successful person is ready for anything because they have taken the time to research and read about what to expect – and that covers all aspects of their life. Many employ mindfulness, and cite it as the reason for their calm and achievements. Others say it is persistence, time spent or simple honest hard work...but the truth of the matter is that, without a passion for learning, they would never have been ready to succeed in the first place.
6. Visualise success. Visualisation really is the secret to success, so much so there is even a film about it. You need to be able to see (and feel) what you want to achieve to make it a reality. Creating a vision board is a powerful tool to visualise what you really want to achieve, by putting down on paper what you really want can bring clarity around what really matters to you. By visualising where you want to be, it is much easier to conceive a way to get there, and help others join your journey to get there too.
